Group Workshop — Material Memory Studio
Artist Practice Workshop
in the Digital / AI Era
A guided group workshop for artists who want to find the language of their practice, strengthen their presence, and build practical systems for pursuing opportunities — in an era where digital tools are unavoidable.
This is a 3-hour group workshop for artists who feel that their work and their online presence have drifted apart — or who haven't yet built the systems to support their practice in the current digital landscape. Held at Material Memory Studio with a small group of peers, the session moves through four structured phases: from brand clarity to channel audit, to practical content work, to outbound opportunity research.
Digital tools — including GPT, Gemini, Claude, and others — are used throughout as practical aids. Not as the subject of the session, but as a means of getting real work done: a clearer sense of your brand language, an updated artist statement, and a concrete starting point for open call applications.
Well-suited for artists who have a body of work but feel their professional presence doesn't reflect it; who are curious about digital tools but haven't made them part of their workflow; or who want a structured, supported environment for the kind of practical work that tends to get postponed.
Sessions are now open for April 2026. A small, intentional opening — not a large-scale launch.

Group Session Flow
The session moves through four structured phases. Each builds on the previous — from brand clarity to channel strategy, practical content work, and finally outbound opportunity.
Phase 01 — 45 min
Brand Keyword Mapping
Review your portfolio, exhibition history, and artist statement to surface your own brand language. Then as a group: participants look at each other's visible channels and reflect keywords back. The goal is a personal brand one-pager that captures what you stand for as an artist.
→ Brand one-pager
Phase 02 — 45 min
Channel & Presence Audit
Review your current channels — website, portfolio PDF, Instagram, photo archive — and map which assets belong where. What exists but isn't visible? What's misaligned with your practice? You leave this phase with a clear map and a prioritized action list.
→ Channel map + action list
Phase 03 — 45 min
Practical Content Work
Rewrite, refine, and update your content — artist statement, Instagram bio, website copy — using your brand language as a guide. Tools including GPT, Gemini, and Claude are available as aids. This is hands-on: you open the tools, you make the edits.
→ Updated artist statement + channel copy (in progress or complete)
Phase 04 — 45 min
Open Call Research & Application
Where to find global opportunities — platforms, databases, and sources for open calls, residencies, and grants. How to tailor your materials for what different opportunities ask for, in English, with support. Practice with a real example and leave with an application starter.
→ Open call application starter
