Coaching — Material Memory Studio

Border Crossing
Sessions

BORDER Framework™

Reflective sessions for those navigating thresholds between disciplines, places, selves, or seasons of life. A space to think slowly and speak without forced resolution.

Border Crossing Sessions are a distinct coaching format within Material Memory Studio. They are designed for people who find themselves in-between — between roles, identities, countries, disciplines, or chapters of life — and who need a space to hold that complexity without being moved toward a premature answer.

Each session is grounded in the BORDER Framework™ — a reflective structure developed by Jay Lee. It is a held, unhurried conversation that moves at the pace of genuine inquiry. Not a consultation. Not a performance.

Rather than rushing toward clarity, the session helps identify the border you are actually standing in — psychological, professional, relational, geographic, or economic.

Well-suited for artists, designers, researchers, founders, and professionals moving across disciplines, geographies, or life chapters, and who resist easy categorisation.

Sessions are available by appointment. A small, intentional opening — not a large-scale launch.

Recommended For

Professionals navigating a major life or career transition — and wanting a reflective space to process it
Artists, founders, researchers, or anyone who resists easy categorisation and wants coaching that honours complexity
Those who prefer depth over prescription — not a framework imposed, but a conversation that surfaces what matters

What You Take Away

At the close of the session, your words are distilled in-studio with AI as a supporting tool — not as the center of the experience, but as a way to help you leave with a more tangible reflection of your crossing.

Both formats include the symbolic portrait, reflection print, and private 30-day Reflection Companion access; the 90-minute session allows more depth and development in the reflection print.

Output 01

Border Crossing Portrait

A symbolic portrait centered on a body part or personal object that represents your current threshold — photographed in the studio and printed on site.

Output 02

Border Crossing Reflection Print

A personalized reflection print, shaped from the session conversation and refined in-studio with AI as a supporting tool. Depending on the session, this may include a one-line threshold statement, a brief reflection sheet, or a conceptual print combining image and language.

Possible reflection elements

Today's BorderWhat I'm LeavingWhat I'm EnteringWhat Wants to EmergeA Symbol from TodayNext Courageous Step

In some sessions, this may also take the form of a one-line threshold statement — a distilled phrase that helps the participant remember the crossing in their own language.

After the Session

30-Day Reflection Companion

Every Border Crossing Session includes private access to a 30-day Reflection Companion — a dedicated AI-assisted space that remembers your session, your threshold, and your symbolic portrait. Over 30 days, you can return to revisit what surfaced, deepen your reflection, or explore new questions that arise as you live through your crossing. It is not a chatbot — it is a continuation of the conversation that began in the studio.

30-Minute Follow-up Coaching

After the 30-day Reflection Companion period, a complimentary 30-minute online follow-up coaching session is included. This is a space to revisit what emerged during your reflection, discuss what has shifted, and explore your next step — whether that is deeper structural work through a Wheel of Life & Harada Chart Session, ongoing coaching, or simply closing the chapter with clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this therapy or counseling?

No. Border Crossing Sessions are coaching-based — focused on reflection, clarity, and forward movement. They are not a substitute for therapy or clinical support.

Do I need to prepare anything before the session?

No preparation is needed. The session begins with a coaching conversation — you bring yourself, not materials. If you have a personal object that feels meaningful to your current moment, you are welcome to bring it.

What is the 30-day Reflection Companion?

A private, AI-assisted space that remembers your session context. For 30 days after your visit, you can return to it to revisit what came up, continue reflecting, or explore new questions. It is included in every session.

Can the session be conducted in Korean?

Yes. Sessions can be conducted in English or Korean, or a mix of both — whichever feels most natural for your reflection.

How is the session different from a regular coaching session?

It combines coaching conversation with symbolic, material outputs — a portrait, a reflection print, and an ongoing companion space. You leave not just with insights, but with physical artifacts from the session.
