About the Host
Ana Bridgewater
Ana Bridgewater is a sculptor and the founder of Abalon — a London-based studio practice at the intersection of porcelain, marble, and contemporary design. With over twenty years working directly with materials, her practice moves between object-making, consultation, and education. She runs regular workshops on porcelain and marble at London Craft Week, collaborates with Hey Clay London on community clay sessions, and has lectured at the University of Bath, the Spanish Embassy in London, and Kew Gardens. Her work explores the tension between traditional craft methods and digital tools — a theme examined in a 2024 Rhino webinar and master projects at Universidad Europea Madrid.
About the Talk
Her work is centred primarily on porcelain, a highly distinctive material, and on the experimental possibilities of clay. Her talk will focus on how the creator's experiences transform and shape the making process. She is interested in how craft can become personal: how we can bring materials into our own domain, evolve them, and make them unique.
Through a presentation of her personal journey in porcelain, she will explore how a material can be translated into a message — and how that exchange can open a conversation about each person's own creative path.
She will also invite the audience to reflect on their own relationship with materials: how their practice represents who they are, and what kind of legacy they hope to leave behind.
